When to use Diarization vs. Multichannel ASR features?

Your choice to use either will depend largely on your audio and the way you plan to integrate Deepgram’s transcripts into your product. When making a decision about using these features, consider the stream of data in a holistic manner. What kind of audio are you funneling into Deepgram, and what information is absolutely necessary to get from your transcript?

Some key characteristics of your audio that should be considered are:

• Number of channels in your audio - Is it mono or multichannel? If multiple channels, does the audio of each track differ from one another?

• Number of speakers - Are there multiple speakers on one channel or one speaker per channel?

• Audio quality - Are the words spoken in your audio intelligible? Is there a lot of ambient noise? Do the speakers overlap each other often?
