Is self-hosting required for GDPR compliance?

Deepgram is fully prepared for GDPR compliance. We provide necessary information to our customers to help them understand how the features and functionality of our platform may affect their GDPR compliance obligations.

Self-Hosting Is Not a Requirement

It's important to note that self-hosting Deepgram in your own environment is not a requirement for achieving GDPR compliance with Deepgram.

To comply with GDPR regulations when using Deepgram's hosted API, customers typically need a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with specific clauses (the Standard Contractual Clauses, or SCCs). Deepgram's standard DPA includes these clauses.

Data Processing Inside the EU

However, some customers based in the European Union may have additional business requirements that demand all data to be processed inside the EU. For these customers, a self-hosted deployment is currently the only option provided by Deepgram.
